The Research Group for the History of Ethnic Minorities is formed by researchers and doctoral students from the "Nicolae Iorga" Institute of History who study various aspects of the history of ethnic minorities in Romanian and Southeastern Europe, since the Middle Ages until now. The research group was organized in 2007. Coordinator of this group is Dr. Viorel Achim.

This site presents the activity of the research group members in this history field and their main publications.

The site is focused on the research project with the title The Gypsy issue in Romania in the nineteenth century. The institution of slavery, abolitionist movement and emancipation of Gypsies. The project is funded by the National University Research Council - Executive Agency for Higher Education and Research Funding (CNCSIS-UEFISCSU). The team working on this project is made up of members of the Research Group for the History of Ethnic Minorities.
